About IKOR

Independent research and tools for a world where products last longer.

Institut kvality, opravitelnosti a reuse (IKOR) is a Czech non-profit research organisation focused on one of the largest hidden problems in the consumer market: products designed to fail sooner than they need to.

We combine academic research on planned and premature obsolescence with practical digital tools — from a secondhand aggregator to a repairability index to a database of recommended long-lasting products.

We work independently. We do not sell ranked positions. We do not accept payments for recommendations. Our income comes from grants, research contracts and transparently disclosed affiliate relationships that never influence our methodology.

We are connected to Silesian University in Opava and to a research network across Europe. The Institute was founded by Pavel Kopczyk, a doctoral researcher specialising in planned obsolescence of consumer goods.
